The warmer weather brings plenty of work for our garden team, and this year is no different!
Whilst the rainy spring gave us plenty of time to sow and grow, we’re kicking off on getting a lot of harvesting done to prepare us for the summer wedding season, as well as ensuring we’ve got enough produce to send over to our sister site over in Dublin, The Park Café.
Across the gardens and polytunnels, you can find the team harvesting plenty of garlic, broad beans, edible flowers for garnishes and cocktails, as well as purple sprouting broccoli that Chef Eoin is sure to cook up with something fantastic.

Over in our Walled Gardens, the team are hard at work planting rows of flowers, ready to be freshly cut and used during wedding season.
From Cosmos to Sweet Pea, Ammi to Dahlias, Gladioli and everything in between, these are being planted in borders against the walled gardens to protect the delicate blooms from any weather.
We’re already excited for harvest season on these, and it’s exciting to know that the gardens will continue to be filled with colour for many weeks to come!
As any gardener knows, there’s always work to be done around the grounds! For the Virginia Park Lodge grounds team, there’s always new things to be planting, watering, composting or clearning. We’re always delighted to see what they’re up to next!
